Mythology Island on Poptropica is the game's 12th full island release. The island became available to the public on April 29, 2010. It was first playable to paid members only in the early access program beginning on April 1. This is very similar to the release schedule for Reality TV Island.
The basic story for Mythology Island is that you are a hero who must save Poptropica from Zeus, who has a plot to rule all of Poptropica. Before that plot is revealed, he sends you on a quest to retrieve five special items from all over the island. Once you successfully complete that quest, he then betrays you and steals the items for his own purposes. In the grand finale, you must battle Zeus in his sky kingdom to save all of Poptropica from his sinister plot.
Along the way you'll encounter many strange and wondrous creatures from the pages of Greek Mythology. You'll meet several Gods and Goddesses, defeat terrible creatures, and solve difficult challenges as you undertake your epic quest.

Although little is known about the island, the creators of Poptropica have made an advertisement page for the new island and you can access it from the home page. You'll see a picture of Zeus and an outdoor city scene along with the following information about what the new adventure will be like:
Mighty Zeus, king of the gods, needs a hero–and he wants you! To satisfy Zeus, you’ll need to battle monsters, swim the depths of the ocean, and descend into the mysterious underworld. Will you emerge a hero like Hercules, or face the fiery wrath of Zeus and his thunderbolts?

Walkthrough of Mythology Island
Part One: The beginning
- You will arrive on Mythology Island on Main Street, just like you do on all Poptropica Islands. Your first stop should be the Museum of Olympus. Once you walk inside the museum, you'll see a short story about the gods and how they defeated the Titans. And you can see all the statues of the gods in here too. Over on the right side, one of the statues Poseidon has a starfish on its face. Grab the starfish because you'll need it later.
- Your next stop is the Temple of the Muses, which is inside the Grove of Temples it's to the right of Main Street. Run all the way to the right and get one of the free pipe. Then go click on the statue of the muse who is holding a reed pipe and she will teach you a song.
- Go back left to Olympus Village, and left again to the forest with the Tree of Immortality. OK now you want to get up into the tree. Walk up the stairs and then climb up the boards that are nailed to the tree.
- Once you're in the tree you need to get to the upper right. You can climb on the red snakes and jump over the tree branches. You'll find a satyr standing on the tree up top. Click on him and he'll ask you to collect honey. You need to find ten pots of honey in one minute and then return to him and he will reveal a pathway to get the Golden Apple.
- After you go grab the apple, Zeus will appear and he's extremely angry. But he tells you he will give you immortality if you locate five very important items that he needs. As listed on the Sacred Items Scroll, they are : a flower from the garden of the Sphinx, the ring from the nose of the Minotaur, a scale from the Hydra, a giant pearl, and one of Cerberus' whiskers.
- When you leave the tree and go back down to the base, you'll meet Athena, who has been disguised as an old woman. She'll give you a warning that her father, Zeus, may not be telling you the truth. She arranges for you to use the olive trees as a source of information.
- The next stop is the Garden of the Sphinx, which you'll find over the bridge to the left. There is a dying fower next to the Sphinx. To bring it to life, you need to open the aqueduct up above with the switches and gates and get the water flowing again. Collect the rare flower and pick pomegranates from the tree above the Sphinx.
- Walk over to the left and jump up on the platform above the sign for the Minotaur. Using your reed pipe, play the notes shown in the wheel on the door in their numbered order.
- Go into the entrance and you'll see the Athena gives you magical golden thread to keep you from getting totally lost inside the Minotaur's labyrinth. Your first stop is the ghost of Pan. Head to the right past the weapons and then down and back up to the right. After a while, you'll arrive next to him. At the Pan bones, remove the bones so that the remaining ones spell out the letters TEN. Continue along and leap over the scorpion in your way. You'll arrive at a doorway, go through to get to the snake puzzle Click the red-eyed snake when it appears, three times hard to spot only that snake - takes some practice.
- Take the Minotaur's ring and head right, to Main Street. Keep moving to the right and enter the Grove of Temples. Run past the Temple of the Muses and you'll soon arrive at the temples of Hades which is down below and Poseidon over to the right. You can play these in either order, but Poseidon first is easier.
Part Two: Into the Realms of Poseidon and Hades
- Walk inside the temple. Place the starfish that you found earlier on the Poseidon statue's face onto the altar inside.
- Go through and cross the beach to meet Aphrodite, Athena's sister goddess. She will give you a short test of the gods and if you get them all right, you will receive a magic mirror from her. The gods are Ares, Hermes, Aphrodite, Artemis, and Hestia.
- Dive into the underground cave in the lake. There are extra oxygen bubbles, but the direct path is across the top, then down the right side, and left along the bottom. Before entering the Hydra's lair, go up a bit to recover the Giant Pearl.
- The Hydra here has five heads. To defeat her, jump up just as each head is attacking you and then land on top of it to knock the head out. After you knock out all of the Hydra's heads, you can get the scale. Exit using the mirror to reach Aphrodite heart symbol, and walk back right to go to Hades.
- At the realm of Hades, earn a drachma from the worker by cleaning some graffiti around the outside of the building.
- Now go inside the temple of Hades and put the pomegranates you found in the tree on top of his altar. Now you can enter the Underworld. Jump right into the chasm to reach the River Styx.
- You'll cross the river in Charon's boat and you need to avoid al the things that come flying at you. The best way to do that is to stand exactly where Charon is. Jump over or duck under the flaming skull and leap over the river alligator.
- You'll land on the other shore and here is Cerebus guarding the place. Play the song you learned from the Muse on your reed pipe. The notes are blue, green, yellow, blue, red, green. Grab the whisker from Cerberus once he falls asleep. You cannot move the large rock blocking the Throne Room. Now you can return to the Gate of Olympus on Main Street with the help of the mirror.
Part Three: The Final Battle
- Congratulations! You now have all five of the items for your quest. Go back to the Tree Base to the left and Athena will help you reveal the secret message they contain. Zeus arrives and steals the objects from you, and Athena urges you to get Hercules to finally help. He agrees and you go to the Hades throne room using the mirror.
- Hercules will move the giant boulder and wait outside. Speak with Hades and he will give you his crown, which will help you defeat Zeus.
- Use the mirror to travel to the Poseidon lake. Once you arrive, Hercules will move the rock that is blocking the way to Poseidon's throne. Now go inside and speak with Poseidon, who will help you out by giving you his powerful trident to battle Zeus.
- The next step is to use the mirror one more time to travel to the gates to Olympus on Main Street. The gates are locked, but that's no problem for the powerful Hercules.
- On the mountain, Hercules encounters Medusa and is petrified into a stone statue.
- Using the drachma that you earned from cleaning up the temple to buy a bag of wind from Aeolus at the base of the mountain. Use it to go upward, then climb the mountainside to reach Zeus's throne. Next, light the four statues to summon Zeus and take him on in an epic fight.
- This fight is difficult but simple in concept. You fly around, avoiding Zeus' attacks while you try and shoot him. You want to get Zeus' health meter to zero and it ticks down a notch each time you hit him. Whenever you get hit by a thunderbolt from Zeus, you lose one of your pink clouds that keep you flying. If you lose them all, you will fall, and you will have to start over. Gather the little pink clouds as you fly, to replenish the larger cloud.
- Just like the villain Betty Jetty Superpower Island, Zeus will soon start to glow and hurl spinning white energy spheres at you, and you must avoid them as well as the bolts. Also, when he is glowing you cannot hit him, so this is a good time back up and collect clouds.
- Eventually, you can wear him down and get his health meter to zero and defeat him. Zeus returns the sacred items to you, and Athena gives you the Island Medallion. You will also get 100 credits as a reward for completing this adventure.

Convince Hercules to Help Out
Hercules is kind of a pain. He won’t help you until you have all five items from Zeus’ quest and will barely give you the time of day. But you'll need his help to get to Poseidon and Hades. Once you have the five items from the main quest, deliver them to Athena. Zeus shows up and then betrays you by stealing them. Once this happens, talk to Athena and she will tell you that Hercules will help you. You’ll need to have the magic mirror from Aphrodite because Hercules doesn’t want to have to walk around. He may be a hero, but he's kind of lazy.
Getting the Hydra Scale
You can see how to do this in the video walkthroughs, but simply put you need to jump up when the Hydra head is just about to strike at you. He will bring one of his heads back to attack and his eyes will bulge and go kind of googly. When this occurs, jump up and then try to land on top of his head by navigating the mouse cursor. If you do it just right, that head will get knocked out. When all five heads get zonked, the Hydra will be unconscious and you can click on him to get one of the scales. Mission accomplished!
Cool Trick: Grow Big Like a God
When you play Mythology Island in Poptropica, you'll quickly learn that the Gods and Goddesses are much larger than normal Poptropicans. Here's a really cool trick: after you get Hades' crown, you can grow big too! Just press the space bar while wearing the crown and you will grow to God-like size. Press the space bar again to return to normal.

If you want to do this there will be a possibility that poptropica will lose money and you will have to say bye to it. If you want to beat mythology island why don't you just buy membership. Could u get Mythology Island opened for everyone tommorow?
I wish that everything was FREE on Poptropica, the shop items, the golden cards...everything! Even membership! And I wish the islands opened 5 days after we all find out about them, that way we can be excited for a few days...but guys don't make kids wait months for your beloved islands! An if you can't do that then make membership cost 300 credits...or possibly less. :) But don't make us wait...but seriously I think you should make membership available in the store for 300 credits. That would be cool. And you should make Poptropica gift cards. Like for you birthday you could get a gift card worth 1000 credits for $10. ($1 for 100 credits) Huh, huh??? What do you guys think???
