Club Penguin Mission 3

This is a very simple step-by-step guide to the 3rd Club Penguin mission, called Case of the Missing Coins. During this mission, you will do a lot of detective work to figure out how a bunch of coins from the Gift Shop vanished! In this mission you will be introduced to Rookie, a green penguin wearing a beanie. He appears in a few other missions as well and is always messing things up. He really makes some boo-boos here in Mission 3 too!

To complete Mission 3, follow all of these steps, get your medal and the bonus rewards.

• Speak with the green penguin wearing the beanie. You don't know this yet but his name turns out to be Rookie. He's wearing red sunglasses standing outside and to the left the vault. He'll tell you the coins have been stolen and he doesn't know much else.
  
• Keep talking to him. Shortly, he tries to demonstrate to you the door was safe and secure. He shows you this by shutting the vault. It locks and he has completely forgotten the combination. Rookie!
  
• Go inside the office. The door has a sign that says, Staff Only.
  
• Walk to the right until you get to the sofa. and then click underneath it.
  
• Grab the floppy disk (do people even use these anymore?) and the paperclip and put them in your inventory.
  
• Go back to the left to the computer. Place the floppy in the disk drive and turn the computer on.
  
• Click on My Files.
  
• Click on combination_number.
  
• The combination changes each time you do this mission and it is different for everyone. Remember the numbers for NESW. These letters are compass directions North, South, East, West and will map to the combination on the safe.
  
• Go down stairs and enter the combination into the safe.
  
• Walk inside the vault. You'll see that the pile of coins are on the roof.
  
• Click on the pile of coins.
  
• Your spy phone will ring. It's Gary the Gadget Guy on the line and he asks you to return to the HQ.
  
• Head back to HQ and speak with Gary (G).
  
• Watch the video monitor that G points to (click on the monitor to watch the surveillance video). Then click on G. Talk with him a few more times and he'll tell you you need a key to get to the roof.
  
• Click on the drawer and pick up the gold key in the top left corner. If you want to decode the messages on the keys, the one in the top left is the one that is labeled correctly.
  
• Go inside the office in the gift shop again.
  
• Unlock the door to the roof with the key that you found inside G's drawer. You'll see a giant magnet on the rooftop with a box next to it that says POWA box.
  
• Open your spy phone and get the spanner (wrench).
  
• Open the panel on the front of the POWA box with the spanner.
  
• Throw the paper clip in the box. It will make it short-circuit and turn the power off.
  
• There is a piece of white fur in the drain. Pick it up.
  
• Go into the vault downstairs.
  
• Click on the coins.
  
• Go to Headquarters and give G the white fiber that you found on the roof..
  
• Go to the right. Pick up the flashlight under the map.
  
• Go to the Town and speak with the brown penguin who is crying outside the night club.
  
• Go in the club and turn on the flashlight. If you have night vision goggles, then you can use those, too.
  
• Go to the secret entrance to the boiler room. It is one of the loudspeakers towards the right.
  
• Find the fuse box and click on it.
  
• Examine the instructions that are inside of the fuse box.
  
• You have to make all the lights green. Follow the instructions for this game. It can be difficult.
  
• When you get the power on go inside the night club and talk to the penguin that was crying.
  Go to HQ and speak with G.
  
• Get the medal and a thank you card. You completed the mission!
  

Mission 3 is one of the easier missions to do. They got a lot harder later. Here's some interesting trivia and facts about the mission.

• This is the first appearance of Rookie, the green penguin who is a member of the PSA but always makes silly mistakes
• This is also the first "appearance" of the mysterious white fur, which shows up again in a later mission and ultimately provides a clue about the villain in many of the later missions.
• After you short circuit the "POWA" box on the roof with the paperclip, all the letters fall off the sign except two, which spell "OW."
